Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) is a term used to describe a governing body or organization with the legal power to interpret and enforce safety regulations. AHJs are typically government agencies, such as fire departments, building departments, or electrical inspectors. AHJs are responsible for approving plans, inspecting work, and issuing permits for construction projects.
